October Activities

In October, we made pumpkins out of play dough, made a witch's Brew, made pumpkin necklaces, and practiced writing letters.  I've really seen their ability to write letters improve greatly.  Every single child. I think my favorite activity of the month was making a witch's brew.  They gave the leftovers to my garden,

Preschool Class Pictures! - Preschool Class 2015-2016

Here are the cute kids for the next year.  I just have to say that I have the best group of kids.  They are sweet, darling, and clearly all have wonderful mothers.  I had to punish my son the other day, giving him a consequence.  Two of the girls started saying, "Yeah, my mom gives me consequences too when I don't follow the rules."  It made me laugh, and made me happy.  It's clear that all of these wonderful children have loving homes, and mothers who nurture responsibility.

This is THE favorite dress up.

 Best friends.

This sweetie resisted having pictures taken.  A sweet memory.

Color Activities!

Coloring in the right colors

I loved this activity.  Making purple pancakes!  We mixed each ingredient in, and they had to keep stirring.  Then I added the colors one by one.  This should be a repeat for sure!

July and Some of August

I've decided to post more pictures and blog a little less frequently.  We have been doing ocean activities with seashells, and now are diving into color for the month of August.  I was pleased with our color mixing last week.  August is going to fly by as September gets started!

Frozen Themed Preschool

Our sandy beach.

Olaf at the beach.
Elsa stuck in the ice!
The past couple of weeks we played in the beachy sand, blue water, and had a Frozen themed week with Elsa and Olaf.  We talked about the warm weather and how ice melts in the sun.   We also did a couple of searches in our yard for Olaf and for Elsa!  Thank goodness we found them and saved them.

Bread Making

These pictures are actually from a few weeks ago, but it seems like I missed them somehow.  Aren't they so cute?  Sorry if it's a repeat.  Our bread making activities were awesome . First we ground the wheat on Tuesday and then made the bread together on Thursday. It was so fun, and exhausting work.  (Bread making is hard work!)

Bugs and Honey Tasting

We learned about bugs and bees this week. We did some honey tasting and all of the kids kept asking for more and more!  What a fun week.  We also went bug hunting outside in out backyard.  We found a beetle and some small bugs.

Suncatchers and Ladybugs

This week we made suncatchers for Father's day, (for the dads), and ladybugs.  I loved both activities and the kids were really happy to take both things home.  The suncatchers were very beautiful and rewarding.  The ladybugs were so cute, and the kids loved learning about ladybugs.

Camping and Bird Watching

This week we camped outside, made some pine cone "soup," built fires, made s'mores, decorated binoculars, and went bird watching.  It was a success.  After preschool this week my son was pointing out that he could hear the birds chirping like when we were bird watching, which was sweet. I think we all paid a bit more attention to the birds and outdoors after this week.

Dinosaur Bones and Fossils

On Tuesday we made dinosaur fossils and bones with salt dough and on Thursday we dug out the fossils and bones from the sand.  It was an excellent activity.  Then at the end, we played with toy dinosaurs in the sand, burying them and having all sorts of fun. Next week we'll talk about camping outside, and then might return to dinosaurs later in the month.
