About Me and Preschool Assistants

Professional Experience:

In 2009, I graduated from Brigham Young University in English Teaching where I took courses specifically designed for classroom management, routines, and lesson planning.  I taught English for 2 years, teaching 7th and 9th grade English. As a teacher I learned how much I love to speak in front of children and have their attention wrapped in my hands.  I set boundaries and expectations for the children, but enforce them with love.

Teaching preschool has been a wonderful outlet to use the skills I have developed as a certified teacher.  I started this preschool in June 2014 and it's been everything I hoped it would be.  It's been a great outlet for me to use my teaching skills, and it's been a wonderful benefit to my children. They love the preschool.

I have also had extensive experience teaching children at church where I have been a children's choir chorister for 1 year and a Sunday school teacher of kids ages 3-4 for 2 years.

Biography:

My name is Libby Dibb and I am from Salt Lake City, Utah.  While I was finishing my English Teaching degree at BYU, I met my husband at church and we got married in 2009.  I taught English again the next year and then when my husband graduated from BYU in 2010, I quit my job and we moved to North Carolina so my husband could start a PhD at Duke.  I was pregnant when we moved, and then we had our son Wayne a couple of months later in October.

I am now a stay at home mom with three kids.  My son is 4 years old, my daughter is 2 years old, and my baby is 7 months old.  I was a nanny for a boy my son's age for the 3 years before the preschool.  I have run a successful preschool program since the summer of 2014.  The kids have been wonderful and they are happy to participate and enjoy the activities.  My favorite time with them is the singing time and story time during lunch.  I see their minds absorbing the information we talk about the theme, and they are all eager to answer questions about the stories I read them.

Mr. Russell:
For Summer 2015-Spring 2016, Mr. Russell (my husband) will be the assistant full time.  I will still occasionally need help from Miss Jillian, Miss Jessica, or another assistant if they are not available.  Mr. Russell will work from home, and help me when I need help with our activities, transitions, potty breaks, and lunch time.  He will be available from 9:00-12:30, but not always present with the kids.

Mr. Russell is in his 5th year of a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Duke.  He's a wonderful father and hard worker.  He loves to take a break from working to play with the kids!  The kids love Mr. Russell, and even call him "Miss Russell" sometimes, which he tolerates well.  He is great at pushing kids on the swings, and playing "Hide and Go Seek."

On a rare occasion if I go out of town, I will find two substitutes to run the preschool at my home.  If you are uncomfortable with subs, we can arrange a make-up day for your children.  This should only be for rare circumstances, like weddings, family illness or emergencies.

Jillian Sanchez:

Jillian graduated from the University of Texas-Pan American with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and then became a certified teacher in 2010. She taught as a high biology teacher for 3 years, and was a science instructor for an early college program at her school.  She also was a biology curriculum writer for the district for the past two summers.  She has an adorable toddler named Calem and now stays at home with him.   At church she’s been a sunbeams teacher, primary counselor, and a nursery worker.  She helps on occasion.

Miss Becci:

The kids always love Miss Becci.  She is a wonderful preschool helper, and does magic with bubbles, while singing the bubble song of course.  She has been a professional nanny for years, and now she's a professional grandma who loves to spend two hours a week with the kids.  She loves reading stories to the kids, and laughs at the cute things she says.  The kids always ask for her when she's gone.

On occasion, I will have to call an emergency back-up assistant that you may not know.  This should be very rare, but will happen on occasion.  By signing up for the preschool, you are trusting my judgment with this decision.  This is briefly listed in the contract.
